Nike shoes come in a wide variety of styles and colors. They are worn by professional athletes as well as everyday folks who just want to make a fashion statement. You can find Nike sneakers at just about store that sells shoes. The famous Nike swoosh logo is probably one of the most recognized company logos of all time and series of nike.

The original swoosh logo was originally designed in 1971 by a student studying graphic design at Portland State University. Carolyn Davidson was paid $35 for the famous design but some sources say that the co-founder of Nike, Phil Knight, later bought her a diamond ring engraved with the Nike logo and also an undisclosed amount of Nike stock after she left the company in 1983. It’s interesting to note that Knight originally wasn’t too impressed with Davidson’s work. He said, “I don’t love it, but it will grow on me.”

Nike currently employs more than 30,000 people around the world and makes other sports apparel and equipment besides shoes. Recently the company has been under some scrutiny because of concerns associated with human rights and poor working conditions. It’s estimated that in 2008 the company made a net income of around $1.9 billion dollars. The name Nike comes from the Greek goddess of victory, and like many other successful companies, had a humble beginning. Philip Knight was a track athlete at the University of Oregon and joined up with his coach, Bill Bowerman, in 1964 to sell shoes out of their cars at track meets. At that time they called themselves Blue Ribbon Sports.

Originally, the duo sold shoes developed by a Japanese manufacturer but ended their relationship with the company in 1971. In 1971 they developed their own line of footwear made especially for football and decided to call it Nike. Soon they introduced more lines of shoes. In 1978, they dropped the Blue Ribbon Sports name and by 1980, 50% of shoes sold in the United States carried the Nike brand. The Nike company still has headquarters in Oregon and currently owns several subsidiaries including Umbro and Converse. At one time, Nike also owned Bauer Hockey and Starter.

Shoes to Soothe Your Feet, Creating Comfort in Every Step

Nike is an iconic brand with a large market share worldwide. However like all other shoe companies it has shoes that are hits and misses. I wanted to review the Nike Air Structure Triax Men’s shoe. This is shoe is a running shoe and is a long standing model at Nike. Writing a review on shoes is a bit tricky because people are different and will experience a shoe in different ways. It’s why we tend to take longer purchasing shoes than other clothing purchases. I try to take this into account writing this review and look at other people’s reactions to balance my reactions.

Personally I found the shoe reasonably comfortable on regular use. As a runner and walker I kept in mind what I wanted from the shoe. First, I wanted a shoe with great comfort. I run on average 6 miles a day and found that without proper support you can really feel the pain in the arches of your foot. In general support was fine. Nike’s patented Air heel technology made the shoe comfortable over long distances. The shoe was also great on the socks with its inner lining. The big thing I found interesting was the sole’s durability with Duralon being used for the forefoot and BRS 1000 in the heel. Durability is a quality I like in any shoe I wear especially in a Nike Shoe.

Looking at other wearer’s reactions I found that some interesting things that they all had in common. First off the biggest complaint was fit. A lot of customers say that the shoe can be a bit tight. They also were concerned with the actual durability when used under actual road conditions. An interesting indication about the shoe’s durability is that a lot of people saw this shoe as more of a fashion shoe than an actual running shoe. I wouldn’t base my own assessment only on that as frankly as Nike shoes became more popular they have become fashion statements. Just look at the Nike Air Jordan. How many guys really use those for basketball? Honestly? All the same I did take notice. The most serious complaint I saw was that the shoe is not friendly on individual’s over developed arches. Some complained that on continued wearing of the shoe that they experience shin splints and pain in the knees. Since there are considerable number of people with this condition it might affect the general reception of the shoe as one used for serious running.

In the end the shoe seems to be pretty solid and if anything speaks for it then nothing does better than sales. The shoe is already sold out on several websites. So it definitely has some qualities that are attractive to customers.

Creating Better Shoes For Your Feet

Nike shoes are made in all shapes and sizes for various sports and activities. The shoe brands real bread and butter are in basketball and running shoes. One of their latest offerings the Nike Air Structure Triax Men’s shoe follows in this tradition. The shoe model in one of Nike’s longest running brands and the shoe has definitely benefited from its long history with continual improvements to its structure and design. The tricky thing about writing a review for a shoe is that the human body varies from person to person, especially feet. So what may be a perfect shoe for one person can be a terrible fit for another individual. In writing this review I looked at the shoes general design then looked at different customer’s reactions to find what was generally liked and what issues they might have with the shoe.

The shoe is basically designed as a running shoe for lighter runners. The shoe has a mesh upper that allows for free airflow. The shoe also has a pretty solid foot bed for the sole and the famous Nike air sole for support of the heel. The shoe also comes with a lining that is easy on the socks. For the out sole Nike went with a Duralon out sole in the forefoot and BRS1000 in the heel for better durability. This make for a strong shoe design that should meet most types of running conditions.

Reviewing several people’s reactions there were some mixed reactions concerning the Nike Triax Men’s shoe. Many wearers including myself found the shoe a bit tight at first but a decent fit when worn for a longer period. Many wearers found the shoe to be lightweight and greater for smaller and less weighty runners. However its seems that just as many saw the shoe more as a fashion statement than a shoe they would use for serious training or physical training. This raised issues about the shoes durability which is a concern considering its $89 USD price tag. If you are spending that much money a shoe need to prove durable. But personally I feel the jury is still out on that as people can put different levels of stress on a shoe. The only major concern I read about was the effect it has on feet with different pronations. Some customers complained that the shoe didn’t do enough to support the arch causing pain in the knees and shin splints. Personally I like a shoe with good arch support so this probably something that needs to be addressed in later models.

Overall the shoe has a generally a solid one. It has its quirks but find a proper size and being a regular run should take care of a lot of the issues. The shoe is also a great fashion statement that is something everyone likes in a Nike shoe
